Kraft Tape vs Plastic Tape
Compare paper gummed tape and plastic carton sealing tape for strength, sustainability, branding, and cost.

Material difference
Kraft tape uses a paper backing and a water activated adhesive. Plastic tape normally uses polypropylene, PVC, or another film with a pressure sensitive adhesive. The material difference affects carton appearance, recyclability, storage, dispensing, and the way the seal behaves after the box is opened.
Performance difference
Plastic tape is familiar and fast for simple carton sealing, but paper gummed tape can create a stronger fiber bond with corrugated board. It is also more tamper evident because the tape usually tears the carton surface when removed. Heavy cartons may need reinforced WAT, while light cartons can often use standard kraft WAT.
Branding difference
Custom printed kraft tape gives brands a practical way to turn every shipping box into a branded package without changing the carton print. This is especially useful for ecommerce businesses that ship plain boxes from shared fulfillment locations.
